A budgeting app with no bank linking
Most budgeting apps ask to connect to your bank through Open Banking. Moniquid doesn’t. You stay in control of your data by importing statements or adding transactions yourself — no bank login, no live connection, no third party watching your account.
Why avoid bank linking?
Linking your bank is convenient, but it isn’t for everyone. Some people don’t want a third-party app holding a live connection to their accounts. Some banks or account types aren’t supported by aggregators. Connections silently break and need re-authorising. And if you simply value privacy, the fewer services with access to your transaction feed, the better. Moniquid is built for exactly those people.
How Moniquid works without a bank connection
There are three ways to get transactions in, and you can mix them:
1. Import a statement. Download a PDF or CSV from your bank and upload it. Moniquid reads UK statement layouts, categorises transactions, and detects recurring bills automatically.
2. Scan a receipt. Snap a photo and the AI extracts the amount, merchant and date.
3. Add it manually. A few taps for cash spends or anything you want to log on the spot.
From that, Moniquid builds your budgets, tracks savings goals and debts, and calculates a daily safe-to-spend figure so you always know what’s genuinely free to spend after bills and goals.
The honest trade-off
No bank linking means a little more effort: you import statements periodically instead of transactions appearing automatically. In return you get privacy, control, and an app that works with any bank, in any format — including accounts aggregators don’t support. For a lot of people that trade is well worth it.
The app isn't currently available. This page is kept online for reference.
Frequently asked questions
Does Moniquid use Open Banking?
No. Moniquid never connects to your bank and doesn’t use Open Banking. You import PDF or CSV statements, scan receipts, or add transactions manually.
Will my bank credentials ever be shared?
Never. Because there’s no bank connection, your login stays with your bank. Moniquid only sees the statement data you choose to import.
Is it a lot of manual work?
Less than you’d think. Importing a statement brings in months of transactions at once, categorised and with recurring bills detected. Most people import periodically and add the occasional cash spend by hand.
Which banks does it support?
Any UK bank — because it reads your statements rather than connecting to an account. If your bank can export a PDF or CSV, Moniquid can import it.
